Drive Types

The Shared Templates Drive provides you with the flexibility to select between a number of different options to store your files.

Important: It is extremely important to understand the requirements and setup for the selected Drive type. Please familiarize yourself with the help for the relevant type before selecting or changing this option.

How to select the best Drive type for your organization

Each Drive Type we support has certain advantages and disadvantages, organizations must evaluate these factors to identify the most suitable Drive type for their environment:

SAP Database
  • Wands recommended Drive Type.
  • The Shared Templates Drive is always available.
  • Requires creation of a database table to store Drive files.
  • Database storage can be more expensive when compared to other Drive type storage costs.
Dropbox
  • Cheap, reliable and secure cloud based storage.
File Server
  • Familiar and trusted file storage service.
  • General availability of File Servers in Enterprise organizations.
  • Additional setup for existing and new users to ensure full access to File Server location.
  • Possible limitations accessing the file server when working remotely.

Changing the Drive Type Option

  1. Delete all Shared Templates files.
  2. Delete Public Drilldown templates or disable the Public flag.
  3. Change the Drive Type option on the System Administrator Configuration Options form.
  4. Recreate all Shared Templates files and Drilldown templates.
